How do I change my nameservers?

A name server is a server that each registrar and/or hosting company uses to enable its customers to create an online presence using unique domain names. As part of the domain name system (DNS), name servers are critical to ensuring the proper function of hosting and e-mail services such that it essentially allows your domain name (and its associated services) to be found on the Web by anyone in the world. Name servers are unique to each hosting company and/or domain name registrar.

Note: If you are a customer with a NEW domain name that WE registered, then our name servers are assigned to the domain name by default and you can manage the DNS zone with us. Only customers that have completed a domain transfer to us and/or would like to move the DNS zone with another provider should read below.

In order to assign DomainPeople's DNS zone to your domain name, you have to use our name servers.

DomainPeople Name Servers:

Primary Name Server: sp1.domainpeople.com

Secondary Name Server: sp2.domainpeople.com

Contact your current name server or registrar/hosting provider and ask them to switch your name servers accordingly. Note that most providers provide control panel access to update name servers, so you should be able to do it yourself. Enter/provide the name servers you see above.

Please follow the below listed steps if you would like to perform name server changes from our end:

1. Log in to SiteControl and click Domain Name, and then click Edit next to the appropriate domain name.

Note: Keep in mind that there is a propagation time when Name Server changes are made. Typically, the propagation time takes 24-48 hours for a change to take effect globally across the Internet's DNS system.
